Emerging Leader Grads Meeting March 28, 2010

Posted by: jmueller    in Emerging Leaders

We moved our meeting night and time so that we can accommodate a couple of our brothers.  We will now be meeting every other Sunday from 8-10 pm.  We handed out the Precept study books and continued through the rest of the section for Week 1.  We are to go through Week 2 on our own and then we will discuss that during our next meeting on April 11.

Pastor Matt handed out a CD with a message from the 2007 Shepherd’s Conference.
John MacArthur – ‘Sovereign Election, Israel, and Eschatology’

There was some terminology in the message that I was not very familiar with, so I did some Googling on Amillenialism and came up with a few links:

Emerging Leader Grads Meeting March 22, 2010

Posted by: jmueller    in Emerging Leaders

We spent some time talking about Obamacare and what our attitudes are toward it.  Do we have the right perspective?  What is the attitude that we should have?  That God is sovereign and that He is in control.  The passing of Obamacare is the will of God.  How do we know this?  Because it passed.  Why?  That is only for God to know at this time.

We began our study of ‘A Man’s Strategy for Conquering Temptation’ from Precept Ministries.  It is a ‘No Homework’ study.  The first lesson was very interesting and will get you to begin looking your sexual temptations and sins.

We talked about moving the meeting night from Monday to Sunday.

Pastor handed out a message from CJ Mahaney.

Fasting

   Posted by: jmueller    in Heresy

I just opened up a book that I found in one of the newstands at St. Louis-Lambert Airport. It was called ‘Fasting’ by Jentezen Franklin. There was a statement at the beginning of one of the chapters that said “I am surprised that food was the enticement used for the fall of Adam and Eve”. I may not have the quote exactly right, but here is my question: Was food the enticement? I know food was the object that was used for the fall, but what was truly the enticement?

Emerging Leader Grads Meeting March 8, 2010

Posted by: jmueller    in Emerging Leaders

Pastor Matt had us take turns reading from the last chapter of  ‘Living the Cross Centered Life: Keeping the Gospel the Main Thing’ by CJ Mahaney.  We then discussed the CD from Jerry Bridges that was given out at the last meeting.

We took some time and finished CJ Mahaney’s book, ‘Humility’

The audio for this meeting is located here.  Feel free to download it and burn it with Windows MediaPlayer or your favorite audio program.  If you have any problems, let me know, and I will either try to guide you through it, or burn a copy for you, and get it to you.

Bonus: And just in case this one isn’t long enough for you, I have added 4 more messages that will give you over 4 hours of listening pleasure. :-) Enjoy!

Attitude

   Posted by: jmueller    in Sin

On my way to work this morning I was listening to a podcast from Pastor James McDonald from the series called ‘Lord, Change My Attitude’. It was a message on the sin of having a critical spirit. Suddenly, I realized that that is sin in my life. Oh how critical I am. I turned off the radio and just began to pray that God would help me to overcome this, and thanking Him for revealing this sin to me.
